20 Discovering someone I can trust with my life
It was a Sunday afternoon in Mauritius four years ago. The young
woman came forward gracefully. She knew personally many of those
present in the church. She gave them a smile of welcome. Then, in a
clear voice, she said:
"Brothers and sisters, I consider everything as a loss because
of the
supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have
accepted this loss of all things and I consider them so much rubbish,
that I may gain Christ and be found in him."
She was reading from Pauls letter to the Philippians but she
was clearly saying what she wanted to say. Later in the Eucharistic
celebration she made profession as a Franciscan Missionary of Mary.
Everyone was happy that she was so sure of the one to whom she was
entrusting her life.
