This was the
third year in a row for our annual Spiritan Vocations Discernment
Weekend. It is a time for a small group of men and women to get away
from the city for a quiet weekend of prayer and discussion. We
encourage those people who are trying to discern their calling in
life. It is not just a vocation weekend for those thinking of the
priesthood or the even the Spiritans, but a chance for people to talk
with others about God's work in their lives. The Spiritans provide
input from various sources; priests, seminarians, Lay Spiritans and
V.I.C.S. volunteers.
As in previous years, the venue of Maryholme, the Sisters of Loretto
retreat center on the shores of beautiful Lake Simcoe, provided an
ideal setting for such a discernment weekend. On Sunday May 27th, the
retreatants drove back to Toronto to finish the retreat with a
celebration of Pentecost Sunday Mass at our Spiritan parish of St.
Joseph's in West Hill, Ontario.
