Ministry
in The Nigerian Church:
Challenges and Prospects
In his book, Ministry in The
Nigerian Church: Challenges and Prospects, Fr.
Obinna Ifeanyi, CSSp, takes as his starting point, the spirit of koinonia
or fellowship existing in the early Church
(Acts 2:42). This short but highly readable book examines the styles
of Church ministry beginning with the Gospels and taking the reader
through various periods of Church history; Patristic, Medieval,
Post-Reformation and our own age. The second half of the book pays
particular attention to the Church in Nigeria, Fr. Obinna's native
country. Using Nigeria as a case study of the relationship between
laity and heirarchy in the Church, this book invites the reader to
reflect upon where we are as Church today.
Fr. Obinna is currently ministering as a teacher in
Toronto, Canada.
