Father EDWARD COLLETON, CSSp of the Spiritan Province of TransCanada passed away peacefully at 9:30pm on April 26, 2011 at La Salle Manor, Scarborough where he had resided since March 2007. Father Ted was born in Dublin July 20th, 1913. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 23rd 1940. During his 70 years as a priest he served in a variety of pastoral works in Kenya (1942-1969), England, Ireland and came to Canada in 1971. Father Ted was briefly assistant director of VICS, worked on the National Mission Council, the Spiritan Mission Office, and as assistant pastor at St. Rita’s Parish, Woodstock, Ontario. Fr. Ted will be especially remembered for his dedication to Pro-Life Ministry and Campaign Life. He gave thousands of homilies that preached the Culture of Life, appeared on television and radio and spoke to pro-life and church groups from coast to coast. He published two autobiographies which greatly helped the pro-life movement. He was ever ready to take on the challenges that life and ministry brought his way and truly made a difference as a priest. He was a powerful witness of solidarity, hope, prayer, devotion to the Sacraments and the Rosary. Rest in Peace. Visitation will take place on Monday, May 2nd, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Church, 200 Morrish Road, Scarborough, Ontario, M1C 1E8 from 2:00pm – 9:00pm. The Vigil Service will be at 7:00pm with Father Gerard Scott presiding. Father Edward Colleton funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011 at the St. Joseph’s Church at 11:00am. Father Robert Colburn, C.S.Sp. will celebrate Mass and Father Patrick Fitzpatrick, C.S.Sp. will be the homilist. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Toronto after the Mass.
